A Guide to the Good Life

William B. Irvine

A practical guide to stoic philosophy through the times of seneca, epicurus and the roman emperor marcus aurelius. You control your thoughts and actions and nothing else. Suffering arises from wanting a reality that is different than what it actually is. Accept the universe as it is and make the best out of it because the universe is neither with you and nor against you. You are only entitled to your thoughts and actions and not their rewards (this is also the literal meaning of “Karma karo fal ki chinta mat karo” from bhagvad gita). Character and Virtue are only the things worth pursuing everything else fame, money, pleasure, etc should be irrelevant to your tranquility
